Month: May 2026
UK Market Insights
- Skyscanner dominated UK flight search visibility during May, generating 23.5% share of voice and significantly outperforming EasyJet, Kayak and other travel brands. Flight discovery remains heavily concentrated around comparison and aggregation platforms.
- Airline brands play a much stronger role in AI search than in traditional search. British Airways, easyJet and Ryanair generated the highest share of conversational brand mentions, showing that consumers still look to airlines directly when discussing travel options with AI platforms.
- Traditional flight search journeys continue to be dominated by aggregators and comparison sites including Skyscanner, Kayak, Google Flights, Cheapflights and Expedia, creating a highly competitive environment for airlines seeking direct visibility.
- AI search results show a different pattern. Airline brands account for a far greater share of mentions, suggesting conversational search may create new opportunities for carriers to influence travel discovery without relying solely on aggregator platforms.
- British Airways generated the strongest share of AI brand mentions (11.28%), ahead of easyJet (9.42%) and Ryanair (8.11%), reinforcing the importance of established airline brands within conversational travel research.
- The contrast between traditional search leaders and conversational leaders highlights a growing split in travel discovery. Aggregators dominate search visibility, while airlines remain central to AI-powered travel recommendations.
US Market Insights
- Google, Expedia and Skyscanner generated the highest overall visibility across US flight searches during May, demonstrating the continued dominance of search engines and travel aggregators in flight discovery.
- Airline brands dominate AI conversations far more than traditional search. American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines generated the highest share of conversational brand mentions across US travel-related searches.
- Traditional search visibility remains fragmented across comparison sites, aggregators and publishers, while conversational search places greater emphasis on recognised airline brands and direct travel providers.
- Reddit, NerdWallet and Points Guy generated significant AI search visibility, highlighting the growing influence of community-driven recommendations, loyalty content and travel advice within conversational discovery.
- American Airlines (8.99%), Delta Air Lines (8.84%) and United Airlines (7.73%) led AI brand mentions, demonstrating that travellers continue to seek guidance from established carriers during conversational research journeys.
- The data suggests airlines have a stronger opportunity to influence AI-driven travel discovery than traditional search results, where aggregators and intermediaries continue to control much of the visibility.
