Understanding Market Leaders and Brand Performance
A market leader is typically defined as the brand that holds the strongest position in its category based on visibility, demand and overall consumer interest. In digital markets, leadership is increasingly determined by how often consumers search for a brand, how prominently that brand appears online, and how effectively it captures organic value within its category.
Pi provides a data-driven view of market leadership using millions of transactional consumer searches. Our Market Leaderboards reveal the best-performing brands in SEO by measuring not only classic links but also organic features, giving you a true 360-degree view of the search landscape. This makes it possible to see which brands dominate share of voice, how your category is shifting and where new threats or opportunities are emerging.
Pi’s proprietary Share of Voice model measures the commercial value brands derive from organic search across a category. It evaluates market trends and the performance of top sites for each search term to determine which brands generate the most organic value.
To complement this, Pi’s Organic Value Score (OVS) identifies the commercial potential of individual search terms. Developed by data scientists, OVS incorporates search volume, cost-per-click data and competitive intensity to pinpoint the most valuable categories, trends and demand drivers.
Together, these metrics reveal who is leading the market, who is gaining momentum and where the most commercially important opportunities lie.
